palace thieves
After a long gestation, Palace Thieves were born from the ashes of West Yorkshire band Spooks in early 2023. Consisting of Pete Cahill (vocals, guitar), Ned Jolley (drums), Pete Bevington (guitar) and Karl Hockless (bass), the band has a varied track record including The Expelaires, Goff Jackson and the Huns, Solus Locus, Delorean Drivers and The Parachute Men. The result is a sound that doesn’t fit any pigeonhole and which one writer has described as “genre defying”. Others have compared the sound to The Bad Seeds, The Fall, Jim Jones, The Stranglers, David Bowie, Dr Feelgood, “The Birthday Party crossed with The Smiths” and even Scott Walker. But somehow not Ed Sheeran…
With an album on Surveillance Records scheduled for late 2024 and gigs in an ever-expanding radius from their base in Leeds, you’ll be hearing from Palace Thieves soon! Lock up the jewels…
- BassKarl goes by the FB pseudonym of Frank Booth, for reasons too sensitive to discuss. Like Pete B, Karl is a headwear enthusiast. When not performing his band day job of making Pete C look like a midget between him and the other Pete, we've noticed Karl is a pretty handy bass player. His other hobby is having a bath.
Ned Jolley
DrumsYou're all dying for some pinups of us lot, aren't you? Oh - oh well. Never mind, here's some pics anyway, a little collage of our drummer Ned Jolley. Drummers always get neglected when people are taking pictures of bands, so he's a bit grainy. He's like that in real life you know. But what about that one Karl took of Ned looking like a French film star, eh? Other band members are available. In a day or two, maybe...Pete C
Lead SingerFor a man who can't sing or play guitar, he seems to do a lot of both. Keen on suits, the band have been trying to get him to take the stage in a loincloth and pillbox hat but so far they haven't succeeded. In his spare time, Pete makes matchstick models of Catherine Deneuve.Pete Bevington
Lead GuitaristLead guitarist, hat wearer, musical authority, voice of sanity.
